I spent a lot of time trying to find a good dog sitter.  You know what they say, "Dogs have great intuition."  I knew it was meant to be true when Valerie came over for the first time.  My dog didn't bark and growl, she wagged her tail and greeted Valerie as if they had known each other. Valerie has been taking care of our dog for almost a year and we haven't had a single problem. What I like the most is that she takes the time to understand the behavior and routine of your dog first. I was referred to Valerie by the Calistoga Pet Clinic staff, I actually interviewed 3 people from different companies and Valerie was my favorite.  I've been using her for almost 2 years now and our two lab mixes love her.  It's nice knowing that you have someone to trust with not just your dogs but also your home when you are away.  We have a 3 yr and 6 yr old and our 6 yr old hated going to Ruff when we would leave so it is so great that I can just leave them in their safe space and not worry when I am gone for work or vacation.  We also have Valerie come once a week to take the dogs out for a long hike and when I get home the water bowls are full and they are happy and tired.  I am happy to answer anyone's questions or concerns.   We also foster through the Golden Gate Lab Rescue and she's has been great including the new dog on outings or just playing fetch with the foster dog so it is included when we are away. We met Valerie when she was house/dog sitting for our neighbors several years ago. She was in a difficult situation with a very ill dog while sitting & after watching how she dealt with that very difficult & emotional circumstance I knew that she would be someone that we would want to care for our beloved Sam.  Sam absolutely loves Valerie & is so excited when he sees her. She will reach out to me to pick up Sam for play dates with some of the labs that she is watching for some running & hiking. She has stayed at our home for several weeks at a time when we travel & the house is in better condition than when we left. I am thrilled to  recommend her when friends ask who watches Sam when we are away. We are so grateful that Sam has someone that he loves & that we trust & he can stay at home while we are away. We love Val! She takes wonderful care of our lab and we know she loves them too - I rarely see her more excited then when Val is there to take her out. She always comes home exhausted and happy. We also use Valerie for overnights, which has always been an easy option when we go out of town.
